"I like styling and making use of my mom's clothes", by: Meckikay

I like styling and making use of my mom's clothes!

When i was in high school and college, most of my clothes were my mom's. I would make adjustments by hand stitch.

This orange top is one of those clothes that I just could not let go of. When I was in college, it got that chlorine stain. Instead of giving it away, I tore it into half which gave it an edgy look. My sister scolded me for doing it but  I guess she liked what I did when she saw these pictures. So before throwing clothes away, always think of what could be done about those if you let your imagination take over.
That is why it helps if you will know basic stitching so it will be easier to make adjustments on those clothes. That is the reason why I bought a small sewing machine. It is a small wonder but could eventually help you save money by not buying too many clothes.

“Lourdes” Curtain Type Swimsuit Cover Up

This is a swimsuit cover up/beach dress designed and created by Aimee Anchinges of Glamerchics.

Aimee has been looking for cover ups that are unfortunately not in the local market. Most of the cover ups available in malls are usually just plain. Aimee used a transparent peacock themed cloth for the cover up. She incorporated neon orange in her design.

The use of neon colors is a common theme in her design. She also made a detachable orange belt to give it an elegant look. Aimee used an orange necklace from the Meckikay collection as well to come up with the formal look.

The cover up may be worn without the belt especially if one just wants to take it off easily before swimming. There are two buttons that serve as a lock on the orange top lining so taking the cover up off is as simple as unbuttoning it.

Roll The Roulette for our Cute Corsets

A corset is a “garment worn to hold and shape the torso into a desired shape for aesthetic or medical purposes created by professional corset makers.” Recently however, corset has been used to refer to tops that resemble the look of traditional corsets. Aimee, Ayen and Tayme are wearing modern corsets from The Vaniteux Shop (they have a store located in St. Francis Square).

 Ayen wearing a white corset.

A corset may be worn as is or with a cardigan. In the picture below, Aimee (on the left) wore it in the morning with a transparent kimono jacket to still show the fitting of the corset.

Juli wore her denim corset during an evening beach party. Both accentuated their corset looks with bib type necklaces.

A corset is perfect during beach parties or even during formal events. It may be worn with a pair of jeans or a skirt. It is just a matter of mixing and matching the pieces and accessories.

Meck wearing a printed corset...

Modern corsets have changed how people view corsets in general. Back in the old days, there was a process called tightlacing wherein men and women alike can learn to tolerate extreme waist constriction and eventually reduce their natural waist size. Ethel Granger was recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records in 1998 with the smallest waist at 13 inches, just about half of Aimee’s waistline. Now, corsets are being used primarily to accentuate the body without the purpose of waist reduction.

A woman should keep one in her closet. This is a fashion piece that would never go out of style. The Vaniteux Shop has been providing ladies including celebrities with corsets in different prints – plain, animal, floral, Aztec, etc. This is a piece that will make a woman feel and look sexy, especially if it is paired with a peplum mini skirt. Get one now. There are other stores like The Vaniteux Shop that make good quality corsets at an affordable price.
